Donors and Donations

The Marmora Historical Foundation was founded in 1980 by Bob Sanderson, Gordon and Stella Bennett, Reverand Donald Rutherford, and lawyer, Andre Philpot. As a group, they aimed to collect donations for the preservation of Marmora's history and promote public awareness of the Marmora Story. They understood the need for a local museum for public presentation and archiving of artifacts, photos, videos, & books and they foresaw the need for funds to preserve local historical sites. Over the next twenty-five years, with the help of over a hundred donors, enough material was gathered to open our present showroom, housing comfortable chairs, bookshelves, reference material and specimens dating back to the early 1800's.

What this group could not foresee was this website.

Now, with the help of donations, we can offer our museum to the whole world, with over 10,000 scans of photos, videos, stories and articles preserving our history and culture. With the wonders of the internet, you can contribute your stories, family history, photos and money right from the comfort of your living room!
