Ada Viola “Violet” Deacon 1891-1985 was the daughter of Walter Deacon and Mary Jane Christie and a lifelong resident of Marmora.

An Artisan in her own right,  in addition to being accomplished milliner or hat maker with her own shop, she was a remarkable seamstress who hand stitched many fine quilts with intricate patterns. She was known to be very generous with both her time and talents frequently making many outfits for her nieces as well as their various dolls.

In her day Violet was a very modern and adventurous woman. It was uncommon for a woman,  let alone a single woman,  to venture from home on their own. Not being one to let foolishness like this get in her way,  she set off on a trip to Alberta to visit with members of the Campion family who had moved west some years earlier. Family members have commented on pictures of “AUNT VIDIE” Golfing and Shooting game while in CALGARY,  again,  activities that were uncommon for a lady let alone a SINGLE WOMAN.
